Pregnancy

My pregnancy treatments are a blend of body massage and Reflexology. I work the whole body, with the client lying on their side, first one side from head to toe and then the other. I work with expectant mothers from 16 weeks on, giving them time to connect with their baby and discover a sense of relaxation and calm that they can call upon during labour.

Regular treatments up until labour can prepare the mothers body to go deep into themselves finding a quiet strength and stamina for labour and those early days. The massage aspect of the treatment includes some stretches to help the body find more space and ease with its changing shape and the extra weight it is carrying. As well as some energy holds for helping mum and baby to connect.

I have found incorporating Reflexology into a pregnancy treatment gives it extra depth, helping with relaxation and to ease anxiety. As well as this I can access the spinal reflex and digestive tract which may not be as easy to massage at this time. As with all my treatments, I adapt to suit each individuals requirements on the day.

Pregnancy and matrescence (the process of becoming a mother), can be an anxious time with lots of changes, physically, emotionally and psychologically. Having support at this time can be really beneficial throughout and can help an individual to have faith in their own body and what it is capable of.

This treatment takes place with the expectant mother in a side-lying position. I work the entire length of one side of the body and then helping the mother to turn onto the other side, I will then work the entire length of the other side of the body. I incorporate the feet as we go along, rather than as a separate treatment.

I use a plain grapeseed oil for the full treatment.
